Save the Dates: Health Curriculum Preview Nights

CVUSD 0 1150
The California Healthy Youth Act (CHYA) requires school districts to ensure that all students in grades seven through twelve receive comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education. The Conejo Valley Unified School District is currently in the process of reviewing three different Health Curriculums that are compliant with CHYA. The goal is for the District to adopt a new Health Curriculum for implementation in grades seven through twelve, beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. As the District moves forward in the Health Curriculum adoption process, CVUSD family input is key. In the weeks ahead CVUSD’s Instructional Services team will host three virtual preview nights.

A Message from Superintendent, Dr. McLaughlin: Important Conversations About Racism and Discrimination

CVUSD 0 2874
Now that all of our TK-12 Blended Learning students are back on campus for in-person instruction, I would like to address a concern that weighs heavy on my heart as the CVUSD Superintendent.  Dating back to this past summer and throughout the course of this school year, myself, members of the CVUSD leadership team, and members of our Board of Education have been part of numerous meetings where concerns were raised about the use of the “N-word” being said on our school campuses. I am deeply troubled by these on-going reports and I want to express to our community the importance of creating a safe and discrimination-free learning environment for all of our students.

CVUSD/CVPPA Negotiations Update

I write to provide an update on collective bargaining negotiations between CVUSD and the Conejo Valley Pupil Personnel Association (CVPPA).  First and foremost, the Board and I want to assure the CVUSD Community that the District is also committed to providing quality mental health services to all students, including students with disabilities.  Additionally, the District is committed to engaging CVPPA in good-faith negotiations in matters related to Designated Instructional Services (DIS) Counseling and we hope that CVPPA will direct its efforts toward productive negotiation sessions with the District’s bargaining team.
