This March Weathersfield Elementary hosted its inaugural Abilities Awareness Week with the theme “Just Say Hi…” to educate and encourage students to be kind, compassionate and understanding to individuals of all abilities.
This spring the Conejo Valley Unified School District is proud to partner with the Los Angeles Ram to bring the PLAY 60 Challenge to four CVUSD elementary schools. The PLAY 60 Challenge Assembly is a fun and educational way to promote fitness and health in a game-show format.
Sophie State is a gifted educator who ensures all students succeed and reach their full potential. She is innovative in her teaching strategies and believes in the “power of yet,” meaning that all students have the potential to achieve when given the proper time and resources. She teaches biology, ELD, and serves as the Science Center Advisor for Westlake High School, and we are proud to call her our April Teacher of the Month!
Parents, youth ages 12+, educators and community members are invited to attend Dr. Victor J. DeNoble's presentation, "Addiction and the Brain." This no cost event will take place on Thursday, March 21st from 6:30pm to 7:45pm at the University Center (2801 Atlas Avenue). Attend this event to learn valuable information about the biology of addiction as it relates to youth and families.
C.I.T.Y. is a summer internship program for 11th grade students in the summer before their senior year. This phenomenal program provides students with unique internship opportunities where they'll spend time with local employers, explore career pathways, and gain skills and experience that can be used for future jobs. A C.I.T.Y. internship Fair will be held on March 12, 2019 from 5:30-7pm at the Grant R. Brimhall Library in the Marvin E. Smith Community Room where students will be able to meet with local businesses and learn more about this year's internship opportunities.
