CVUSD Hosts Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament - Eight CVUSD Teams Move on to State Competition

On Saturday, March 2nd the annual LA Basin Odyssey of the Mind Regional competition came to the Conejo! For the third year in a row this tournament was hosted at Westlake High School. Teams participated in the day’s event from schools in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles County.

Congratulations to all of the teams from the Conejo Valley Unified School District that participated in the tournament, including teams from the following schools:

Elementary:
* Aspen Elementary
* EARThS Magnet School
* Ladera STARS Academy
* Lang Ranch Elementary
* Wildwood Elementary

 

Middle:
* Colina Middle School
* Los Cerritos Middle School
* Redwood Middle School
* Sequoia Middle School

 

High:
* Westlake High School

 

Eight CVUSD teams advanced to the SoCal Odyssey Association California state competition scheduled for March 23, 2019 at the University of California - Riverside. Those teams include:

  • Lang Ranch Elementary - A, who placed first in the OMER to the Rescue Again Div I
  • Colina Middle School who placed first in the OMER to the Rescue Again Div II
  • Redwood Middle School, Colina Middle School and Sequoia Middle School - who all placed in the Classics...Leonardo's Workshop Div II
  • Westlake High School - who placed first in the Structure Toss Div III
  • Ladera STARS Academy - who places second in the Opposites District Div I
  • Los Cerritos Middle School - who placed second in the Opposites District Div II

 

Odyssey of the Mind is an internationally acclaimed educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply creativity and critical thinking to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition at the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from the U.S. and about 25 other countries participate in the program.
