Abilities Awareness Week Comes to Weathersfield Elementary

This March Weathersfield Elementary hosted its inaugural Abilities Awareness Week with the theme “Just Say Hi…” to educate and encourage students to be kind, compassionate and understanding to individuals of all abilities.

The week began with a special school-wide ceremony where guest speaker Scarlett shared about her personal experience of living with cerebral palsy, while also being an actress, singer, surfer, and public speaker.

Special activities were hosted throughout the week where students participated in a variety of hands-on rotation stations that exposed them to mobility impairment, visual impairment, hearing impairment, fine motor impairment, learning difficulties (visual perception), and sensory overload and difficulty focusing.

We are so proud of our Weathersfield Eagles for building a culture of caring, and understanding for all!
