Three CVUSD Schools Honored as 2020 California Distinguished Schools
Congratulations to Acacia Magnet School for Enriched Learning, EARThS Magnet School, and Sycamore Canyon School for being honored as 2020 California Distinguished Schools by the California Department of Education. In total 323 schools statewide received this recognition, and CVUSD schools represent three of the nine schools to receive the distinction in all of Ventura County.
The California Distinguished Schools program recognizes outstanding education programs and practices. Schools are awarded for closing the achievement gap and for achieving exceptional student performance.
The Distinguished Schools program recognizes schools based on performance and progress on the state indicators as specified on the California School Dashboard. Indicators include test scores, suspension rates, and conditions and climate. Elementary schools and middle and high schools are recognized in alternate years; therefore, awardees hold the title for two years.
The 323 California Distinguished Schools will be honored on February 10, 2020, during an awards ceremony at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. The complete list of the honorees is available here.
