Westlake High Teacher Named November Teacher of the Month

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Conejo Valley Unified School District to shine a light on educators throughout the 2017-2018 school year with its Teacher of the Month recognition program.

On Wednesday, November 8, Erin Gordon, a Special Education teacher at Westlake High School, was recognized as CVUSD’s November Teacher of the Month in a surprise celebration.

Erin has been a teacher in the District for three years and counting. She was selected as Teacher of the Month because of her dedication to engaging and supporting all students in learning by demonstrating the following key criteria:

1. Open doors by recognizing diverse needs of learners

2. Exhibit high professional standards

3. Engages with families and the community

During her tenure at Westlake High School, Erin has been a leader in creating engaging learning environments that promote collaboration, problem solving and reflection with sensitivity to students with diverse abilities. She recognizes the needs of diverse learners by providing equitable access to content and instruction, particularly for students who receive Special Education services.

Erin works tirelessly in and out of the classroom to provide learning opportunities that support lifelong student development and growth. This includes providing a positive connection for the students in the Westlake High School community through her support of the Sparkles Cheer Program.

To celebrate Erin’s November Teacher of the Month recognition, members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce congratulated her with gifts from their local businesses. Additionally, members from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and CVUSD Superintendent, Dr. Mark McLaughlin presented Erin with a commemorative plaque recognizing her achievement.
