Welcome to GATE

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) provides qualitatively differentiated learning experiences for students with unique abilities, interests and talents with the expectation that students will be successful learners capable of performing at high levels of ability. Research has shown that specialized instructional strategies, along with opportunities for gifted students to interact with each other on a regular basis, yield higher academic performance, as well as improved social and emotional well-being.

Do you have a newly identified GATE student and wonder what this new world is all about? Our New GATE Parent presentation slides in English and Espanol can help. If you have any questions, please email Stefanie Caswell.

Upcoming Events

District Activities:

We are excited to continue our district-wide GATE enrichment events and activities..."After Class Enrichment Series" (ACES) with a blend of in person and virtual sessions every month.

  • Join us for Elementary Digital Escape Rooms via Zoom on Tuesday, October 11th from 1:15 - 2:15 PM. (During early release week for parent/teacher conferences.) Students will use their creative/out-of-the-box thinking and teamwork skills to solve various riddles and puzzles.  Information will be emailed to elementary GATE families for sign up one week prior to the activity.
  • We are excited to partner with the Thousand Oaks Library to offer our first IN PERSON activity (since February 2020) for secondary GATE students! This off-site activity is a creative and collaborative scavenger hunt, scheduled for Tuesday, October 11th from 4:00 - 5:00 PM. Information will be emailed to 6th - 12th grade GATE students and families for "lottery" sign up one week prior to the event.

If your GATE student has an idea for an activity that they would be interested in attending, please email Stefanie Caswell.

Are you looking to get connected with other GATE families? Check out the GATE-DAC 2022-2023 Calendar to see when our next district GATE District Advisory Council parent meeting will take place.
