Who is eligible for Kindergarten?
In order to enroll in kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year, a child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2018.
Registration for the 2018-19 school year begins February 1, 2018, at your "neighborhood school."
What is Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a developmental, hands on instructional program for the youngest kindergartners. TK is based on learning through exploration, exposure, and experience.
For the 2018-2019 school year, eligible TK students must be born between 7/1/2013 and 12/2/2013. Students born 7/1/2013 to 9/1/2013 may apply for Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten. TK will be offered at Acacia, Aspen, Conejo, Cypress, Glenwood, Madrona, Walnut, Weathersfield, Westlake and Westlake Hills elementary schools (subject to change due to enrollment). TK will be the same hours as Kindergarten. Before and after school child care may be applied for through CVUSD Child Care.
In order to apply for TK, you will need to submit a School Choice Application 2018-2019. Applications will be available January 3, 2018 and should be submitted to Instructional Services by 5:00 p.m. on February 1, 2018.
There will be a "Parent Information Night" on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at 6:30 pm at Acacia Elementary School, 55 W Norman Avenue in Thousand Oaks.
How do I transfer my child from one school district to another?
You will need to complete an Interdistrict Attendance Permit to transfer into or out of CVUSD. The form must be submitted to your neighborhood school district for approval.
